I used to see people getting involved in CSR activities with lots of passion and enthusiasm but never actually got much opportunities to do it properly until few years back which I actually got an idea to do something on the special occasion of my company Springkrafts completing its one year successfully. I suddenly got this wonderful idea of celebrating it in an orphanage with kids when I was actually thinking about many ideas of how to make the first year celebration of my company as memorable and special as it is to me and everyone associated as well to feel happy and content on this day. I discussed the same with my team and colleagues and surprisingly everyone agreed with lots of enthusiasm and why not, after all what could be better than spending the day with angels and spreading smiles and making the world a better place?
I contacted few friends to approach these organisation to give us permissions and segregated work among our team to plan different things and activities on our special day. I must say that the days we spent on planning with all the enthusiasm were fun too as much as the day we celebrated the Anniversary of our company. Everyone in the team gave their best to arrange all the things, gifts and activities and surprisingly even the Vendors and Artists right from Emcee, photographer etc. whom we approached actively agreed to do it with the same spirit and some people even requested to volunteer which really touched my heart. It really made me feel if you do something with a pure heart then the whole universe vibes with you.
And finally the day came and we reached the place, it was a small NGO in Whitefield which took care of all girl child which gave us this wonderful opportunity to celebrate our day. I was personally stunned to see the cherubs in all different age groups but mostly small kids who were full of life and energy and yet very disciplined. The kids were so warm and friendly that they started engaging us within minutes rather than us doing it and honestly it was an experience of a lifetime to feel and learn from those kids form me. Since I am from the Event Management field from many years so I have seen the Birthday Parties of kids from normal families but never have I ever seen such warmth and enthusiasm which I saw in these beautiful kids who unfortunately have many things missing in their lives but how they deal with it and still spread so much warmth is something to learn from them. We actually planned activities of one or two hours, meals, snacks and some music and dance later on which actually got stretched beyond what we planned as these kids were too involved with us and interacting with us so much and made us forget time too. What I realized from that special day and celebrating with those kids was that life is too short to cry on what we don’t have and we should embrace all the good things life has to offer with an open heart. We went there with an idea of spreading smiles but the happiness and joy which we got back that day was beyond this world. It was just an amazing experience to do a small part from our side to make this world a better place and do whatever we can as an organisation to spread smiles. I just decided to celebrate our Company Anniversary every year like this and more wonderful ways we can and we have been successfully doing that.Down in their hearts, Wise Men know this truth : the only way to help yourself is to help others –Elbert Hubbard
